I lost 50 pounds without Ozempic!
This is AM with your CC (Listen to the Radio Read Here!)
I am very happy to report that I have lost 50 pounds, down from a crushing high max of 315 pounds.
Before you congratulate me, don’t throw a big party just yet-- it took five full years.
Let’s put that into perspective, If you hired a personal trainer and you only lost 50 pounds after five years, you would have fired the trainer long ago, as that is less than a pound a month. Not impressive!
But for me the victory was rooted in confronting the Vice that made me want to eat too much in the first place. Cutting my sugar intake was a big part of it. More recently intermittent fasting; a great weight loss weapon. Also the quality of food eaten plays a role. At home, My gorgeous makes incredible meals so it’s extremely rare that I buy meals elsewhere.
I did all of this without Ozempic or a similar type drug. Instead my weight loss was done the hard way, and as usual the hard way is the right way.
At this point it’s too easy to jump into potential side effects of these weekly injection drugs,
I could point out that we lack data about the long term effects. Potential long term dangers in stomach health but my objections to Ozempic type drugs are even more basic than that.
I think each human being has their own God assigned vices. It’s these challenging vices that stand between us becoming the completed person we are meant to be, it’s easy to understand the role that plays, because if human beings could just solve the problem with a pill or a jab, we never have to dig into reaching our potential.
A dangerous trap, because there is nothing cute about these temptations. They stand opposed to our success. They are lifetime challenges in fact when I was first beginning to cut my sugar intake many years ago, my hand over the cookie jar, knowing i should not take a cookie at that time. It would’ve been easier to lift 100 pounds over my maximum bench. It would’ve been easier to lift the extra hundred pounds than it was to resist that cookie that’s the crushing resistance these vices have for each of us. These vices are that strong. These vices are serious and we hold a real part of our ourselves back if we don’t face (them) take full accountability and defeat them. Our vices are lifelong. It’s funny once you think you’ve got it handled and you reach a sort of plateau, until a bigger challenge comes to test your resolve.
As for me, I don’t really care how long it took to get my weight loss. I’m just happy the extra 50 pounds is gone and I’m not done yet. My life insurance company says I’ll save money if I can lose another 20 pounds.
